Sex racket in beauty parlour: five arrested in Odisha capital

Commissionerate police today busted a sex racket operating out of a beauty parlour in Unit III area under Kharvel Nagar police limits in the Odisha capital and arrested five persons in this connection.

The police have also rescued three women from the parlour.

Acting on a tip-off, Kharvela Nagar police personnel, under the supervision of Inspector in charge (IIC) of the police station, raided at the beauty parlour and arrested the culprits engaged in the sex trade.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Samim, Najid Khan, Rajkumar Sharma, all residents of Bihar and currently staying at Kharvel Nagar area, Debashish Nanda and Chittaranjan, both belonging to the capital city.

However the parlour owner managed to flee from the spot.

Further investigation revealed that one of the women found in the parlour hailed from Bihar. It was also revealed that the parlour owner used to bring girls and women from Bihar and engage them in illegal sex trade.

“We are also conducting raids at other beauty parlours and guest houses in our area to bust illegal sex racket,” said IIC of Kharvel Nagar police station, Sanjiv Satpathy.
