Sexual harassment charge against chief of Odisha-based NGO

A woman from Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district has lodged a complaint with the Kharavela Nagar police station against Friends Foundation, an NGO here. As per her allegation, the president of the Friends Foundation Trust Satya Ranjan Samal harassed her both sexually and mentally.

“I came here to lodge a complaint against the Collector of Mayurbhanj as he misbehaved with me. Later on, Friends Foundation promised me to help me throughout the case but after I reached Bhubaneswar, they started harassing me in many ways. Satya Ranjan Samal misbehaved me with obscene gestures and forced me to have physical relation with him. So I am seeking justice from the Mahila police here,” said the victim.

The woman met Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi and a case was registered in Kharavela Nagar police station in connection with the incident. The case was later forwarded to Mahila police station.

On the other hand, trust secretary Babita Kar rejected the allegations and said, “The woman is blackmailing me. She has different intentions. As I have been defamed, I will lodge a complaint against her.”
