Sexual harassment slur: Shelter home head arrested in Odisha’s Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: The Bhawanipatna Town police have arrested Saroj Das, head of a shelter home here in Odisha’s Kalahandi district, for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl at the institution.

The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) had lodged a complaint with Bhawanipatna police, on the basis of which the case was registered against him. The CWC officials had yesterday questioned the girl and her mother in this connection.

The CWC has also decided to shift all inmates from the shelter home to a different place, reports said.

As per the mother of the girl, her daughter was sexually harassed at the shelter home for the last one year by head of the institution Saroj Das. On the other hand, the accused has refuted the allegations saying that a conspiracy was hatched against him. He further said that parents of the girl took her home on March 25 and levelling the allegations after many days is suspicious.
