Sharjah/Bhubaneswar: Delhi Capitals' spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Tim Southee were involved in a heated argument during their IPL 2021 game at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

KKR seamer Tim Southee dismissed Ashwin on the first ball of the 20th over during the Capita's' innings; Ashwin was caught at the deep backward square and as he was walking by the pitch, the Kiwi pacer had some words to say to him.

The veteran spinner then stormed towards Southee for a discussion. He then had a go at the KKR skipper Eoin Morgan. Thankfully, KKR wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik came in between and stopped Ashwin from having any more altercations and calmed him down.

Australian spin legend Shane Warne dubbed the incident as 'disgraceful'.

Taking to social media, Warne said that KKR captain Morgan "had every right to nail him" as the two players entered into an argument on the field on Tuesday.

Singling out Ashwin in particular, Warne asked, "Why does Ashwin have to be that guy again?"

"The world shouldn't be divided on this topic and Ashwin. It's pretty simple - it's disgraceful & should never happen. Why does Ashwin have to be that guy again ? I think @Eoin16 had every right to nail him," Warne wrote quote-tweeting a tweet from Fox Cricket.

Ashwin later dismissed Morgan for a second-ball duck but Morgan had the last laugh as KKR emerged victorious by three wickets.

Former India captain Virender Sehwag also addressed the issue by sharing a screenshot from a Fox Cricket article and writing: "On July 14th , 2019 when it ricocheted of Ben Stokes bat in the final over, Mr Morgan sat on a Dharna outside Lord’s and refused to hold the World cup trophy and New Zealand won. Haina ? Bade aaye, ‘doesn’t appreciate’ waale."
