Shocking! Man impregnates daughter in Odisha’s Malkangiri; accused held

Malkangiri/Bhubaneswar: The Malkangiri Police today arrested a man for allegedly raping his daughter and impregnating her, said a police official today.

Based on a complaint filed by the woman’s mother and brother, the police arrested the father of the victim. Also, the police sent the victim for medical examination, said Inspector In-Charge of the Malkangiri Police Station, Ram Prasad Nag.

The accused married off her daughter to a youth from the same village a few months back. As the youth was mentally-challenged, the accused brought back his daughter to home some days after her marriage.

In their complaint, mother and brother of the woman stated the victim is also mentally-challenged. They alleged the victim’s father used to get drunk and rape the woman without the knowledge of the complainants.

When the victim got six-month pregnant, her mother and brother asked her about the matter. The victim then narrated her ordeal. She further stated out of fear she did not reveal to anyone how her father raped her after getting drunk.

The woman’s mother and brother confronted the accused over the matter. But the man beat up the woman’s mother and brother, following which they lodged a complaint and sought help from police, Nag said.

Investigation is on, said the police official without revealing identities of the accused and the victim considering sensitivity of the matter.
