The decorative silver lingam had adorned the idol of Lord Lingaraj for a few days after it was donated by a devotee last year. It was later removed from the idol after a dispute erupted over it.

The meeting of the trust board of the temple was called on Saturday following the decision of the sub-committee on the silver cladding for the idol.

The temple trust board in its meeting approved the silver cover for the Lord’s idol, informed ADM-cum-chairman of the temple trust board Abanikanta Patnaik.

Similarly, in a separate decision the trust board decided to rent out the Swastik Mandap at Dakara Bibhishana temple with the rent fixed at Rs 4,000 per day. The Dakara Bibhishana temple which was encroached upon has returned to the control of the Lingaraj Temple trust board recently.

The trust board also decided to move the Supreme Court over the dispute on a piece of land at Rameshwarpatna.

The trust board meeting which was chaired by the ADM cum chairman of the temple trust board was attended by all members of the board.
