Six arrested for violence in Odisha’s Ravenshaw varsity

Six youth were today arrested by Odisha police for their alleged involvement in campus violence in Ravenshaw University here yesterday.

The Malgodown Police had detained these six persons for questioning since yesterday. Today, the police arrested them and forwarded to court.

The arrested persons include three non-students who were allegedly involved in the campus violence.

According to reports, some students were sitting near Seven Pillars of Wisdom convention hall and talking to each other last evening. However, they had an altercation with another group followed by a scuffle over some trivial issue. Later, the place turned into a mini battleground with the warring groups pelting stones and bottles at each other.

At least five persons from either side were injured in the incident.

The Malgodown Police was informed about the incident which reached the spot to bring the situation under control.

The local police picked up six persons and detained them for questioning last night. They were arrested and forwarded to court today.
