Six Maoist guerrillas arrested in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Aug 16 :

Six Maoist guerrillas, including three section commanders, were arrested in Jharkhand Saturday, police said.

The guerillas were arrested from a jungle situated near Lapunga village of West Singhbhum district, which is around 170 km from here.

Police had information that a top Maoist guerrilla was hiding in the jungle.

Police and para military forces raided the jungle and arrested the guerillas, who belong to banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist).

The arrested Maoists include section commanders Tipadas alias Umresh, Bikram Turi alias Anil Turi and Ramveer Patro alias Ranveer.

Police seized five mobile phones, three pistols, live cartridges, Rs.15,000 and other documents from their possession.

Maoists are active in 18 of the 24 districts in the state.
