Bhubaneswar, Apr 28:

Under fire from all quarters for over a month now, Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FS&CW) Minister Sanjay Das Burma today made a passionate speech in the Assembly and said that Social & political life has been gripped by intolerance.

“History will definitely take a new turn. The intolerance issue my friend from BJP raised here does exist. I would not always remain a minister. Neither shall we all always remain MLAs. Intolerance is on a rise. It is dangerous for the democracy. It is a moment of crisis. We have to face even longer periods of intolerance under these conditions,” said Das Burma speaking on the intolerance issue in the Assembly.

His indication, however, was directed at leaders that have raised questions against him, opined political observers.

Notably, the minister is facing stiff opposition not only from opposition Congress and BJP, but also from within the party along with many civil society organisations following the Mar 17 press conference of Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra where he alleged Das Burma of having connections with chit fund companies.
