Sonu Sood sends smartphone to Odisha NEET aspirant

Sambalpur: Sticking to his promise of helping NEET and JEE aspirants appear the examination, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood provided a smartphone to a girl student of Odisha’s Sambalpur district so she could get on with her NEET preparation online.

The meritorious student, Lipsa, who had secured 90.6% marks in Matric and 93% in Plus II Examinations, is going to appear in the national-level entrance test tomorrow.

On September 1, Lipsa’s friend Chhabi Rani tagged Sonu Sood in a tweet requesting him to help her meritorious friend in her preparation for the upcoming NEET examination by providing her a smartphone. She had mentioned that Lipsa’s father is an auto-rickshaw driver and the COVID-19 lockdown has worsened the situation of the family financially.  And, this has hampered Lipsa’s  preparation for NEET.

Chhabi Rani’s tweet was retweeted by several users and within around 10 days, Sonu’s team responded to the young girl’s plea.

Kiran Bilhotra, a member from Sonu Sood’s team, contacted Chhabi Rani and local youth leader Sanjit Mohanty for necessary details. After cross-checking, Sanjit confirmed to the office of the actor-turned-philanthropist that Lipsa, a resident of Chandan Nagar area in Khetrajpur of Sambalpur district, is indeed a bright student from Guru Nanak School and she genuinely needs the assistance.

Later, Sonu’s office directed Sanjit to purchase a new smartphone for the girl and made the necessary payment for it. Soon, Lipsa was handed over a new smartphone. A member from Sonu’s office then spoke to her over video call. She will soon be talking to Sonu Sood as well.
