SOP issued to prevent spread of COVID-19 in Odisha jails

Bhubaneswar: In view of rise in daily counts of Coronavirus cases in the State, Odisha Government today issued an SOP to prevent spread of infections inside the prisons.

In a letter, the Directorate of Prisons and Correctional Services, Odisha, asked the Superintendent of all Jails to take measures contain spread of COVID-19 inside the prisons.

As per the SOP, the employees as well as the inmates of jails will be sent to the dedicated COVID Care Centres or COVID hospitals for treatment after being tested positive for COVID-19.

 

Here’s the SOP issued for prisons in Odisha:
    1. Anybody is found positive in this process, should be sent to the ‘dedicated COVID Care Centre/COVID Health Centre/COVID Hospital’ by the concerned remanding agencies like Police, Forest, Excise or Vigilance as the case may be for treatment with the permission of remanding courts. They will be shifted to the Jails after being recovered in dedicated COVID Care Centre/Dedicated COVID Health Centre/Dedicated COVID Hospital.
    2.  All COVID positive prisoners should be sent to nearest COVID Care Centres and critically ill COVID patients to COVID Care Hospitals.
    3. COVID positive cases should not be kept inside the jails.
    4. Other instructions in SOP of Government as well as all guidelines issued during 2020 shall be followed.
