All vacant seats were filled up on the basis of All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) rankings.

Spot admission to vacant BDS seats in private medical colleges will be conducted on the basis of the special OJEE held on September 27 following Odisha High Court orders, informed OJEE officials.

However, only 25 students have qualified in the special OJEE, officials added.

Notably, two MBBS seats each in SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack and MKCG Medical College & Hospital, Brahmapur had remained vacant after the third round of counseling.

Besides, 38 MBBS seats were lying vacant in the privately run Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar.

Moreover, 16 BDS seats in SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack and 73 BDS seats in Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar had remained vacant before spot admissions.

It may be mentioned here that a division bench of the High Court comprising Justice I Mohanty and Justice BP Choudhury on Tuesday (Sep 22) had directed OJEE authorities to conduct a special entrance examination for BDS seats lying vacant in different private medical colleges across the state and complete the exams and counselling by September 30.

The court had issued the order for a special entrance examination while adjudicating on a petition filed by the All Odisha Private Medical and Dental College Association.
