“We have planned around 70 events all over the state to celebrate ‘Daan Utsav’ week. Our volunteers will hold events in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Sambalpur, Rourkela and Kendrapada to bring a smile among the underprivileged and the needy,” said Anurag Kumar Shukla, Daan Utsav fellow for Odisha.

This festival has already started on Gandhi Jayanti Day on Friday and will continue till October 8. Anyone can be part of this festival either by joining in the events already scheduled or creating their own event. It can be as small as giving an ice cream treat to the maid’s children or a blood donation campaign.

“One can join in the events listed on our Facebook page or create their own events and register them with us till October 8,” said Shukla, who has been selected to coordinate all events in Odisha through a pan-India exam.

“We kicked off the Daan Utsav in Odisha on Friday with 15 programmes around the state. Today, we have 7-8 programmes lined up everyday till October 8,” he added.
