Staffer’s death sparks tension at Capital Hospital in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Tension gripped Capital Hospital here this morning after death of a staffer of the SNCU ward as other employees staged dharna near the chamber of the superintendent of the hospital.

According to reports, SNCU attendant Anupama Nayak was yesterday admitted to the casualty ward of the hospital due to illness. Her colleagues have alleged that she wasn’t taken to the ICU after deterioration of her health condition due to unavailability of bed, for which she died.

Anupama’s co-workers resorted to dharna before the superintendent’s chamber placing the body near it this morning. They demanded compensation for family of the deceased woman.

The dharna was withdrawn after Hospital Director Ashok Kumar Pattnaik assured them of a probe into the matter and action against those responsible for the death.
