Bhubaneswar, July 14:

The state BJP today accused the Odisha government of humiliating honest and efficient officers by transferring them in a whimsical manner and shunting them to nondescript posts.

bjp logo“The recent reshuffle effected by the state government in the IAS and IPS cadres has triggered resentment among the people of Odisha. Our chief secretary JK Mohapatra going to the Centre is obviously a matter of pride for us. But, the way the former DGP Prakash Mishra was shunted to the insignificant position of chairman of the Odisha Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) is most unfortunate,”said BJP spokesperson Sameer Mohanty in a press release today.

Condemning the decision of the government, he said the sudden transfer of an honest and efficient officer like Prakash Mishra has been widely resented by officers in the state.

“It is clear that Narendra Modi has imposed faith in Odia officers and has already included several of them in his team. Odisha would have been benefited with the appointment of Prakash Mishra in a key post at the Centre. But, Naveen Patnaik does not want that to happen,” said Mohanty urging the government to allow Mishra to move to the Centre.

The government should not try to humiliate an officer, who has achieved tremendous success in controlling the Maoists, modernisation of the police force and reformation  of the commissionerate police system, he said..
