Stray dog mauls 11-day-old baby to death in Odisha

An 11-day-old newborn baby was gnawed to death by a stray dog at a village in Odisha’s Angul district.

According to sources, Sanatan Sahu’s son was born 11 days ago in Charanpur village in Nuabag panchayat under Hindol block in the district. He had taken the neonate to his in-laws house in Samakoi village Angarabandh area here last week.

On Sunday at 8 am, the baby was put to sleep in the sun by the family members. For a moment when the baby was left alone, a stray dog came and dragged the baby away.

After they returned, the family members saw the dog chewing the baby and rescued him from the clutches of the canine in a critical condition.

The baby was rushed to the district headquarters hospital for treatment. However, the neonate had died on the way to the hospital due to severe injuries.
