“Following intelligence input that the left wing ultras, after being pushed by the security personnel in Sukma, are trying to sneak into Malkangiri district, the district police with the BSF personnel have stepped up security in the area”, Malkangiri SP Akhileswar Singh told OST on Tuesday.

Reports from Sukma said that security personnel have intensified combing operations after the Maoists fired at an Indian Air Force (IAF) MI-17 helicopter which was on the way to Chintagupha camp carrying the CRPF jawans led by IG, HS Siddhu on Saturday afternoon.

In the three-day operations, the security personnel have seized a huge cache of explosives including rocket launchers, Chinese–made grenades and guns from several Maoist camps.
