Bhubaneswar: After Twin City Commissioner of Police Sudhanshu Sarangi warned COVID-19 guidelines violators of stricter action, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) wrote to DGP Abhay and all Collectors and Municipal Commissioners directing them to ensure adherence to social distancing norms and strict enforcement of the order on use of face masks and no spitting in public places.
In the letter, SRC Pradeep Kumar Jena said it has been observed that general public are not following the prescribed social distancing norms and not wearing face masks. They are also found spitting at public places. This is a violation of the Government orders and such instances are liable for prosecution as per law.
The guidelines are also not being followed at marriages and other social functions that have allowed in the lockdown 4, the SRC added.
“It is requested that strict enforcement of social distancing norms, wearing of masks and no spitting in public be strictly enforced and violators are fined and prosecuted as per law,” the letter reads.
