In a press conference the Congress party student wing alleged that Byomakesh Ray has ‘strong’ connections with the currently in jail D-brothers. They demanded the arrest of Ray.

Manoj Biswal,  a student congress member said that Ray election was funded by the D-brothers  and the  expenses were channelized thorough Ajay Barik, the current deputy mayor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), according to media reports.

“Ray must be brought under the purview of investigation. Why did the police let him go despite knowing the fact?” he asked.

Members of the Students’ Congress  have also alleged that the lawmaker was using the vehicle of Barik prior to the 2014 election, this showed that he had close links with Barik.

They have threatened that if Ray is not arrested within 48 hours by the police the students’ Congress activists will gherao the Police Commissionerate office on April 9.

Ray has refuted the allegations and said he had no links with D-brothers.
