Rayagada, May 30:

In a unique protest over lack of road to a village in Odisha’s Rayagada, school and college students of the locality staged a dharna in front of the district Collector Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar’s residence here today.

According to reports, the students of Podomara village under Kumbhikota police limits in the district staged a sit-in before the official’s house demanding proper road connectivity to their village.

In a letter to the collector, the students said that though their village is one KM away from Rayagada-Koraput main road, it is yet to get proper road despite repeated complaints in this regard.

Poor road is creating problems in pursuing education, distribution of rice under PDS, health services and carrying of pregnant women to hospitals, they said in the letter.

Requesting for proper road connectivity to their village, the students said they will stage a dharna on Rayagada-Koraput main road on June 6 if their demands are not met.
