During the Zero Hour, BJD’s Athgarh strongman Ranendra Pratap Swain took potshots at both the BJP and the Congress.

“The one thing that the results of the Delhi election have brought to the fore is not what AAP will do if it forms the government, but that the people of India want an alternative, an alternative political platform and an alternative economic platform. This has become evident because the Congress has failed to open its account there,” said Swain speaking to reporters outside the House.

Stating this to be a matter of concern Swain said: “Congress is a party of 120 years; this is a matter to concern for all. All national parties have become redundant. Secondly, the economic agenda of the last UPA government and the efforts of the present government which had announced to make India Congress free and has been trying to further force it down the throat of the people, have been rejected by the people of Delhi. The capital of the country has become free of both the Congress and the BJP.”

”People are in search of an alternative that can provide an alternative thinking, new opportunities, people are searching for some route other than BJP and Congress,” the Athgarh BJD MLA said.

“The future will decide that route,” he added.

The Congress, which has been routed in the Delhi election, put up a brave face saying the people in Odisha are going to deal withthe BJD in Odisha in the 2019 elections the same way it delat with the BJP in Delhi. The Modi government had done nothing other than rhetoric for the last one year, the party said.

Opposition chief whip and Congress strongman from Jeypore Tara Prasad Bahinipati was first off the blocks saying the state has made no progress during th 15 years that the BJD has ruled the state.

“A similar thing is going to be repeated in Odisha when people will reject BJD, the way people in Delhi rejected the Modi government, which had been only talking and doing nothing in the last one year. We will strengthen the Congress at the grassroots level. We will review at each level what went wrong; where and try to make our party stronger by organizing ourselves in a better way. The people of Delhi today have rejected the BJP, which had swept the 2014 elections Narendra Modi. We admit we have been rejected; but the people have rejected BJP and its government.  We will go for more self introspection,” said Congress MLA from Jharsuguda Naba Das speaking to reporters outside the House.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today congratulated AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and his party for their tremendous victory in the Delhi assembly elections.

“I congratulate Mr Arvind Kejriwal and his party for their tremendous victory in the Delhi assembly elections,” said Patnaik speaking to the media.
