Summer special trains to run through Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 5:

With a view to clear additional rush of passengers and also provide comfortable journey to the commuters during the summer this year, East Coast Railway (ECoR) has decided to run three additional pairs of trains towards Kolkata from Puri and Bhubaneswar apart from nine pairs of weekly and bi-weekly summer special trains towards different destinations of the country from its jurisdiction by creating a number of additional berths, said an official release of ECoR.

SUMMER

Between May 6 to June 24 08403 Puri-Santragachhi Special train will leave Puri at 2125hrs o­n every Friday and will reach at Santragachhi at 0645hrs o­n the next day. In the return direction, 08404 Santragachhi-Puri train will leave Santragachhi at 1900hrs o­n every Saturday and will arrive at Puri at 0400hrs o­n the following days between May 7 to June 25.

Similarly, between May 11 to June 11, 201602278 Puri-Howrah Shatabdi Special train will leave Puri at 0545hrs o­n every Wednesday and will reach at Howrah at 1340hrs o­n the same day. In the return direction, 02277 Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Special train will leave Howrah at 1425hrs o­n every Wednesday and will arrive at Puri at 2200hrs o­n the same day during the period.

Besides, between May 8 to May 29, 201602074 Bhubaneswar-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Special train will leave Bhubaneswar at 0600hrs o­n every Sunday and will reach at Howrah at 1240hrs o­n the same day. In the return direction, 2073 Howrah-Bhubaneswar Jan Shatabdi Special train will leave Howrah at 1325hrs o­n every Sunday and will arrive at Bhubaneswar at 2010hrs o­n the same day during the period.

Again to clear the summer rush, ECoR is running Bhubaneswar-Krishnarajpuram bi-weekly Suvidha , Sambalpur-Yesvantpur weekly Suvidha, Puri-Santragachhi (Howrah) weekly Suvidha, Puri-Shalimar Weekly AC Special, Visakhapatnam-Krishnarajpuram bi-weekly Suvidha, Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad weekly Suvidha, Visakhapatnam-Tirupati weekly Suvidha trains from its jurisdiction.

Apart from these, a number of long distance trains are also running through East Coast Railway jurisdiction during this summer period according to the feasibility and demands from the passengers by creating more berths from ECoR.

Moreover, important regular trains have been planned to be augmented with additional coaches during the period by creating additional berths.  Based o­n an analysis of the Passenger Traffic Profile o­n various routes, permanent augmentation of coaches in Mail/Express trains is being done by attaching more coaches.
