Sweeper thrashes patient at hosp in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: At a time when the Odisha Government is stressing upon the implementation of citizen-centric ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative at hospitals, a sweeper allegedly thrashed a patient at Paunskuli Hospital under Singla police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district, last night.

According to reports, the accused asked Purusottam Jena of Ujuda village, the patient, for giving space for cleaning work, over which an exchange of words erupted between the two. It took an ugly turn as the sweeper thrashed the patient leaving the latter injured.

The victim was then shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. His condition is stated to be stable now.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the wife of the patient, police have registered a case and detained the accused for questioning.
