Talk of reshuffle of Odisha ministry refuses to die down

Notwithstanding the denial by the party earlier, it looks like there would be a reshuffle of the Odisha council of ministers after all.

The ministerial corridor in the state secretariat is abuzz with talk that the performance review of ministers undertaken by Chief Minister yesterday is actually a prelude to a reshuffle. While incumbent ministers not too confident about their performance are apprehensive, ministerial aspirants are excited about finding a place in the council of ministers.  

Presiding over the meeting of the council of ministers on Thursday, the Chief Minister had informed the ministers that he would shortly review the performance of their respective departments in the last one year. Besides, he also asked them to apprise him of the road map for the next four years, issues and probable solutions and monitoring mechanism of their respective departments on the day the performance of their department is taken up for review.

The party supremo informed the ministers about the date of review of their respective departments.

Sources said the ministers, as per his directive of the Chief Minister, had submitted their report cards. However, barring a couple of ministers, they rattle off a long list of success in their report cards.

Reliable sources said, during the review which began yesterday, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) will submit a list of any incongruity found in the report card, to the Chief Minister.

May 25: Law

May 28: Tourism and Culture; Textiles, Handlooms & Handicraft
May 29: Employment & Technical Education & Training
May 30: Labour & Employees State Insurance
June 1: Housing & Urban Development
June 2: Rural Development; ST, SC, Minority & Backward Development
June 3: Women & Child Development; Social  Security & Eempowerment of Persons with Disabilities; Planning & Coordination; Health & Family Welfare; Information and Public Relations.
June 4: Panchayati Raj
June 6: Higher Education; Science & Technology; Rural Development-Rural Water supply; Steel & Mines
June 8: Energy & Information Technology
June 9: Commerce & Transport; Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare
June 10: Industries, School & Mass Education
June 18: Revenue & Disaster Management; Forest & Environment; Parliamentary   Affairs
