Tata Steel Dedicates Hostel for Girls in Odisha

Gomardih, July 14:

To promote education among girls, Tata Steel has constructed a hostel building at Janata Girls’ High School, near its Gomardih Dolomite Quarry under Kutra block of Odisha’s Sundergarh district.

Tata Steel Dedicates Hostel for Girls at GomardihBuilt at a cost of ₹ 27 lakh with proper electrification, the hostel building can accommodate 50 students.

The building was inaugurated by DB Sundara Ramam, EIC (FAMD), Tata Steel and handed over to the school management at a small function held here in the presence of Pankaj Satija, GM (FAMD), PR Prasad, Chief HRM-RM, Tata Steel, teachers and students of the school.

Earlier, students used to travel long distances to study in the school making it inconvenient for the girls, particularly during rainy and summer seasons.

The community members, the students, the parents and the teachers of the school thanked Tata Steel as this problem was addressed with the construction of the hostel.

Among others present during the inaugural function were Niral Kachhap, Head, HRM-FAMD; SS Mishra, Sr. Manager, GDQ and local PRI members.

To create awareness on environment, the steel major had also organised Vana Mohashav at Surgo Kissan School, Gomardih on July 12.

Pankaj Satija, the Chief Guest at the function organised on the occasion, addressed the school children on significance of plantation to maintain ecological balance and role of the plants for carbon balance in the environment.

Satija along with other officers of Tata Steel, students and teachers planted saplings in the school premises.
