Tata Steel hires 40 Odisha diploma engineers

Bhubaneswar, August 26 :

Tata Steel has hired 40 Diploma Engineers from the Placement Cell of Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTET), Government of Odisha for its Kalinganagar Project.

The steel major becomes the first private company to collaborate with the Central Placement Cell of DTET and in a central recruitment drive at Bhubaneswar selected the fresh Diploma Engineers from premium Government Diploma Engineering Schools and Polytechnics of the state. This is an initiative to attract the meritorious students of the state and offer them a platform to build their career and be a part of the industrialisation process of the state.Tata Steel hires engineers

In a special ceremony at Niyojana Bhawan of the department at Bhubaneswar, these 40 successful candidates from Odisha were handed over the appointment letters by Dr Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Employment & Technical Education & Training Department, Government of Odisha in the presence of Mr. Parthasarathi Mishra, Chief, HRM, Kalinganagar Project, Tata Steel on August 23, 2014. These new recruits, who were selected in line with Tata Steel’s selection process, will join Kalinganagar Project on September 1, 2014.

Commending Tata Steel for the initiative Dr Kumar said, “I thank Tata Steel for taking this excellent step of recruiting students from various institutes of the state, I wish the students all success in their career in Tata Steel”. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Mishra said “we are committed to take the state to greater heights while generating direct and indirect job opportunities for the youths of Odisha by leveraging local talents.”

Among others present on the occasion were Mr Prashant Kumar Dash, Additional Secretary of the department, Mr Pramod Kumar Panda, Director, DTET, other senior officials of the department and Mr. Debabrat Dash, Head, HRM, Tata Steel, Kalinganagar Project.
