Tata Steel’s Khondbond mines in Odisha bags CII Award

The Khondbond Iron and Manganese Mine of Tata Steel situated at Joda in Odisha’s Keonjhar district has won the prestigious “Energy Efficient Unit” award at the 15thNational Award for Excellence in Energy Management-2014 conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The award was given for the mine’s outstanding measures adopted by the company in the field of electrical energy, thermal energy, explosive energy, renewable energy and water in the last couple of years.

Saroj K Banerjee, chief, Engineering Services & Project and MR Rath, head, Plant & Equipment, Khondbond Iron and Manganese Mines, Tata Steel received this prestigious award on behalf of the company at Energy Efficiency Summit 2014 from Pradeep Chandra, special chief secretary and commissioner, Industrial Development & Commerce, government of Telengana and  Dr Naushad Forbes, Vice President, CII at Hyderabad on Thursday.

Out of the 205 applications received from industry leaders from different segments like Automobile, Power, Refinery, Fertilizer, Paper, Pulp, FMCG, Chemical, Engineering, Building, Cement and Software, etc, 97 applicants were shortlisted and called for the final presentation at Hyderabad on October 29 and 30 which was evaluated by a panel of experts.
