Tea seller arrested for deceiving widow in Odisha capital

Dhauli: A tea seller was arrested on charges of deceiving a widow on the pretext of marriage here on outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

The accused was identified as Pratap Swain (45), a resident of Itipur village under Dhauli police limits. He is already married and has two children. He has a tea stall on premises of the Shanti Stupa.

According to reports, the victim from Pipili was residing in Dhauli area along with two adult children following her husband’s death five years ago.

However, the tea seller had been torturing the woman alluring her of providing a job at his stall and on the pretext of marriage, said a police official.

A case was registered based on a complaint by the woman following which the accused was arrested by the Dhauli police yesterday.

He was produced before a local court that sent him to the Jharpada jail rejecting his bail application.
