Teacher among 2 arrested for smuggling precious stones in Rayagada

Rayagada: The Rayagada police today arrested two more persons, including a teacher, in connection with smuggling of precious stones.

Of the two arrested, one Radha Mohan Mahana (53) of Sudha Street in Boudh district works as a Block Grant Teacher and another is  Subash Ratnallu (45) of Muniguda in Rayagada district.

On December 7, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch had conducted a raid and seized 23 precious stones worth Rs 1.5 crore from a house in Jagannath Complex in Rayagada town. The cops later arrested one Jitendra Kumar Behera from Bijabandali village in Ambadala.

During interrogation, it was found that Radha Mohan and Subash were involved in supplying the precious stones and buying the same from main accused Jitendra.

Further investigation is on in this connection.
