Teacher turns tormentor, rapes minor student in Odisha

Odisha police is on the lookout for a teacher of a state-run school in Jajpur district, who allegedly raped a minor girl student for several months impregnating her in the process.

The matter came to light after the family members of the 14-year-old girl noticed bodily changes in the girl. When they confronted her, she narrated her ordeal to her mother following which her father took up the matter with the headmaster of the school.

The accused teacher, identified as Paresh Majhi, was working as Sikshya Sahayak in Barapada nodal school at Ramchandrapur village in Jajpur district.

The teacher was giving private tuitions to the minor girl at his residence and was raping her for the past several months.

After the incident was brought to the notice of the district administration, members of the District Child Welfare Committee (DCWC) and District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) conducted a joint inquiry. A complaint was lodged at the Binjharpur police station against the accused teacher this Monday after the completion of the inquiry.

Meanwhile, the accused is on the run and police are on the lookout for him to arrest him.

“The DCWC has filed a complaint against the teacher with us. We are trying out level best to arrest the accused, who has fled from the village,” police said.
