Teen drowning in club pool: Two trainers suspended

Bhubaneswar: Two trainers were suspended for their negligence for which a teenage boy met watery grave at swimming pool of the city club in Bhubaneswar.

Action has been taken against two trainers for lapses in work allowing a non-registered student of the club for taking swimming lesson, clarified Bhubaneswar Club General Manager Purnachandra Mishra.

However, the family of the deceased alleged foul play by the club authorities suspecting the role of police in the incident.

Even five days after the teen identified as Sandip Sahu drowned to death in swimming pool of the posh club, the police are yet to give the FIR copy to the deceased’s family.

“It was not an accident, but a planned murder,” alleged Sandip’s mother.

She said that her son had deposited the admission fee for swimming class at the Bhubaneswar Club 15 days ago, but his name was not enrolled in the register.

“Not registering his name in the official record for the swimming class was intentional. The murder was planned in such a way to appear it as an accident,” she alleged.

Notably, Sandip, the only child of his parents from Dumduma area on city’s outskirts, drowned while taking swimming lesson on June 4 morning.
