Teenaged girl gang-raped in Delhi, four arrested

New Delhi, June 24 :

A 17-year-old girl was abducted, kept hostage at a flat here for one night and gang-raped by three people after they rendered her unconscious by giving her a cold drink laced with sedatives, police said Tuesday. The accused trio and an associate have been arrested.

Sahil, Vikky and Babar – all in their 20s – along with Akash, who had given the sedative-laced cold drink to the Class 9 girl student inside a mall here, were arrested from their respective hideouts in Delhi Tuesday.

The crime took place Sunday night and the matter was reported to police Monday, when the girl reached her house and informed her family members.

Police said the girl had gone to a shopping mall in Rajouri Garden area of west Delhi around 8.30 p.m. Sunday along with one of her female friends.

In the shopping mall, Akash, who is known to the victim and who works in the mall, offered her a cold drink and molested her, police said.

“In the meantime, Sahil, Vikky and Babar reached the mall and they took the girl to their flat in Dwarka in west Delhi after hiring an auto-rickshaw on the pretext of dropping her at her home,” a police official said.

The trio kept the girl hostage at the flat the whole night and gang-raped her. The next day, they left her at a park in Dwarka. The girl somehow reached her house and informed her family members who later approached police.

A case has been registered and the accused were arrested after the girl’s medical report confirmed rape.
