Temple after Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to come up soon
Bhubaneswar: A stunning sculpture of the Sun temple in name of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik may come up soon at Chandrabhaga near centuries old Sun Temple in Konark.
Recently, a team of Surya Mandir Nirman Shaala members had approached the CM in this regard seeking approval for the proposed architecture. The members also discussed it with Puri Collector at a meeting yesterday.
“We have prepared a blueprint of the proposed Sun Temple, which will be named after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. We have purchased two acre of land at Chandrabhaga and urged the State Government for allotment of additional four acre land adjacent to the area for the temple,” informed Surya Mandir Nirman Shaala president Mukesh Jain at a presser in Puri yesterday.
“Though, we are awaiting for a nod from the Government, the construction work of iconic wheel, horses and elephants featured at Konark Sun Temple have already started in Rajasthan,” he added.
Earlier, renowned sculptor Padma Vibhushan late Raghunath Mohapatra had envisaged a similar kind of architecture for second Konark Sun Temple in Odisha. However, his dream remained unfulfilled as he passed away due to COVID-19 complications in second wave of pandemic this year.
Jain said that that blueprint of the temple for worshipping Lord Sun was prepared dated back in 2003. In this context, Surya Mandir Nirman Shaala had discussed with late Mohapatra and estimated Rs 200 crore for the project. However, the execution of the project got delayed due to obstacles at Government level.
“There will be no financial obstruction in carrying out the construction work of the temple, which will be completed within two and half years. The proposed temple has been named ‘Naveen Konark Sun Temple’,” he said.
