Tension erupts during eviction drive in Odisha’s Cuttack
Cuttack: Tension ran high during an eviction drive by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) in Jagatpur area of the city today as several shopkeepers resorted to dharna.
According to reports, the traders staged dharna when the eviction drive to raze the shops and clear encroachments on roadside from Jagatpur Golei Chhak to Barrage Chhak was about to be commenced by the CMC.

Tension escalated when a person sought explanation from CMC Deputy Commissioner Abinash Rout over the eviction. The person was later detained by police.
Normalcy returned as the official assured the affected shopkeepers that they will be rehabilitated at vending zone.
