It’ has been a great day for Odia athletes at the 53rd Senior National Open Athletics Championship being held in Ranchi.

Minutes after Dutee Chand notched her second Gold in 200m, Odisha’s star sprinter Amiya Mallick made his state proud by winning the Men’s 200m race. He clocked 22.21 secs.

This is Amiya’s first Gold in the ongoing event.

Odisha’s medal tally improved later during the day as Purnima Hembram , another promising Odia athlete, won Silver in the Women’s Heptathlon.

The Odisha Olympic association has announced cash awards of Rs 50,000 each for Dutee Chand and Amiya Mallick and Rs 25,000 for Purnima.
