Three of bike lifting gang arrested in Odisha’s Steel City

Three youths have been arrested and forwarded to court on Friday by police in Rourkela, odisha’s steel city, for allegedly stealing 10 bikes between November 2014  to January 2015. Police have also recovered  the stolen bikes from  them.

The three youth arrested on Friday morning have been identified as Babulu Sahu (25), a resident of Jhartarang here, Susanta Thappa (23), a resident of Jamnadipa and Santosh Yadav (28), a resident of Gopabandhupalli here.

According to police sources, accused Babulu Sahu had earlier been arrested and jailed in a bike theft case in Birmitrapur area while Sushanta Thappa had earlier been arrested and jailed for a murder case in Birmitrapur area. After coming out of jail in the month of November, the two had started stealing bikes alongwith another accused Santosh Yadav, the sources said.

“We  have arrested and three youths in this case and forwarded them to court. They were running a racket of  stealing  bikes. We have also recovered all 10 bikes stolen during this period from them,” said U.Pradhan, IIC, Brahmani Tarang Police station.

Sources said the police were on the lookout for the gang after complaints were lodged in different police station in  and  around Rourkela about theft of their bikes.
