Three colleges in Odisha capital cancel students’ union elections

Bhubaneswar, Sep 28:

Authorities of three colleges in Odisha capital announced cancellation of the elections to their students’ unions following pre-poll violence in college premises.

Ekamra College, College of Basic Science and Humanities and City Women’s College in Bhubaneswar have decided not to carry students’ union elections for this year citing pre-poll violence and disturbances among student groups.

On the other hand, tension prevailed in Capital Law College and BJB Autonomous College after two groups contradicted regarding cancellation of the poll.

Later, BJB Autonomous College authorities formally announced to hold polls after discussions with Student Advisory Committee.
