Three eminent Odisha artists to receive Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi Samman

Three eminent Odisha artists Prafulla Kar, Aloka Kanungo and Sadasiv Pradhan have been selected for the prestigious Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi Samman.

This was announced in the meeting of Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi was headed by chairperson Sekhar Sen, National School of Drama, New Delhi and director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) as well as representative from 30 states and eminent artists in Agartala.

While Prafulla Kar will receive the award for Sugam Sangeet, Aloka Kanungo will be awarded for Odissi dance and Pradhan will receive the award for Chhau dance respectively.

Meanwhile, for  Bismillah Khan Yuva Samman, names of two young Odisha artists Sukumar Tudu from Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district for acting and Dhyanananda Panda of Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district for folk dance was announced.

Dhirendranath Mallick, secretary, Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Odisha was the representative from the state to the prestigious two day meeting.

The selected thirty six artists will be awarded later by the President of India in ceremony in New Delhi.
