Three held, ganja worth Rs 20 lakh seized in Odisha capital

The Commissionerate Police today arrested three persons involved in ganja trade in Kalinga Nagar area under Khandagiri police limits in the Odisha capital and seized a huge quantity of ganja from them.

The three arrested persons were identified as Prakash Chandra Pradhan, Narayan Pradhan and Santosh Kumar Khuntia presently staying in the city.

The seized ganja weighed about 500 kg and was worth about Rs 20 lakh in the market, Khandagiri IIC Aseem Panda said.

According to Twin City Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma, the accused were bringing the ganja from Koraput district and sent it to markets in New Delhi and Kolkata. They were keeping the banned material at a house (plot no 756) in Kalinga Nagar area under the Khandagiri police limits in the city.

Other than the ganja, police also seized a motorcycle, five number plates, three mobiles and hard cash of Rs 32,000 from the possession of smugglers.

The police forwarded the trio to a local court here today.
