According to reports, a group clash broke out between residents of two localities in the city over erection of bamboo barricades owing to a border dispute between Darghapatna and Nuapada. The erection of wooden structures was part of the preparations for upcoming Durga puja celebrations here.

The members of the two puja committees had an altercation followed by stone and bottle pelting in which three persons sustained minor injuries. The injured have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Senior police officials of the city rushed the spot including DCP to prevent further flare-up.

“The members of puja committees clashed over a border dispute. Earlier, discussions with leaders of Darghapatna Puja Committee and Nuapada Puja Committee were held. Three persons sustained minor injuries and the situation is under control now,” said Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora.
