Three killed in bear attack in Odisha

At least three persons including two women were killed and two others were grievously hurt in a bear attack in Chandahandi block in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district.

The two injured have been admitted to the government hospital here. Their condition is stated to be critical.

Villagers of Phatki village who had gone to the nearby forest to collect greens were attacked by a supposedly rogue bear.

According to reports the bear first attacked the two women and later attacked a man who was trying to rescue the women. The three were killed by the bear.

Later, two more persons who had gone to the forest to collect the bodies of the dead were attacked by the bear resulting in them sustaining critical injuries, the reports added.

Reports said local Forest department officials have been contacted and efforts are on to capture the rogue bear.
