Three Maoists, including 2 women, killed in police encounter in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: As many as three Maoists, including two women, were killed during an exchange of fire between the extremists and security forces in Tulasi Forest Range under Mathili police limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, informed DGP Abhay today.

Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint team of the SOG and Malkangiri DVF had launched a combing operation in the area. During the operation, several Maoists, who were hiding the forest, opened fire at the security forces, the DGP said.

In retaliation by the jawans, three Maoists sustained bullet injuries and died, the top cop said.

Bodies of the three Maoists were recovered from the place while two guns have been seized from the spot, he said.

Combing and search operations were underway in the area, the police official added.
