Three Maoists killed in exchange of fire in Odisha

Koraput: At least three Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire at Narayanpatna in Koraput district of Odisha, police said today.

Confirming the news, Inspector General (IG) of Police (Operations) R P Koche said three ultras were killed in exchange of fire by police at Dokri ghat under Narayanpatna police station in the district.

A joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) were carrying out combing operation in the Ghat when they spotted the ultras, he said adding the search operation was on.

The police personnel also destroyed a Maoists camp and seized several articles, including explosive material from the spot of encounter along with other Maoist materials, the IG said.

Police said they have recovered the bodies of the three Maoists and expecting some more ultras might have been injured in the gun battle.
