Three missing in boat capsize in Odisha’s Malkangiri district

Three persons were drowned when a boat in which they were travelling capsized in Sileru river under Chitrakonda tehsil in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Monday night.

Talking to OST, Chitrakonda tehsildar Falguni Majhi said some villagers of Kondaguda village under Kurmanur panchayat of Kudulmulgumma block were returning to their home in a boat after collecting their PDS rice from Alurpeta in Andhdra Pradesh when the boatman lost control.

While some villagers managed to swim ashore, three others were drowned.

The identity of the three missing villagers is yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, police and a fire brigade team rushed to the spot this morning and began search and rescue operations.
