Kendrapara, Apr 10:

If patience is virtue, rarely it gets justified in human life. Although Indian cinema says the result of waiting is always sweet, the reality appears something different. Three women in Odisha’s Kendrapara district are waiting for their missing husbands for 18 years, but getting back their husbands has remained a dream for them.

Three women of Sidhhabali village in Nuapada panchayat under Aali block of the district — Basanti Tarai, Sarati Pani and Pramila Pani — have been looking for their husbands, who have gone missing in the past 18 years. In return they get only disappointment.

According to reports, Basanti Tarai’s husband Bimbadhar Tarai was working as a mason in Cuttack. However, he did not return home since 1999, the year when the super cyclone devastated the coastal Odisha.

Basanti’s neighbour Sarati Pani has a similar story to lament on her fate. Sarati’s husband Sadananda Pani was managing his house being engaged as a mason. Suddenly, he went missing in 1999. Pramila Pani, who is working as a daily labourer to earn for her family, her husband Ranjit Pani also went on missing somewhere in the same year.

Recently, the newly elected Nuapada sarpanch has extended his hand to assist the three women in search of their husbands. They are counting their days with a hope to meet their husbands.
