Three of family found murdered in Odisha’s Steel City

Raghunathpalli police recovered the bodies of a couple and their three year old son inside a house at Balughat Basti near Panposh on the outskirts of Odisha’s Steel City of Rourkela today.

Sources said residents of the basti found the bodies of a couple and their child lying in a pool of blood inside the house in the morning and informed the police.

After getting information, a team from Raghnathpalli police, along with a scientific team, reached the spot and recovered the three bodies. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

The deceased were identified as Milku Badaik (32), his wife Arati
Badaik (29) and their son Adikanda Badaik (3). Milku works as a
mason. It is suspected that there were killed around midnight on Sunday.

During its investigation on the spot, police found that they were killed by a sharp weapon. It is suspected that the killer used a hammer to hit them since a hammer was found lying at the scene of the crime. However, the reason behind the murder was not immediately clear.

“We are now investigating the case to nab the killer,” said T.K.Jena, DSP, Zone-II, Rourkela.

Sources said on Sunday morning, Milku Badaik’s father-in-law, who resides at Kacharu area here, had gone to his daughter’s house but found the main door of the house closed from outside with a lock hanging from the door. He picked out the lock, opened the door of the house and went inside, only to find his daughter, son-in-law and grandson in a pool of blood.
