Three of family killed as truck hits auto-rickshaw in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: In a tragic incident, three persons of a family died as a truck hit an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling near Khalagaon in Odisha’s Angul district, late last night.

The deceased were identified as Pitambar Pradhan, his relative Gundicha and his brother Munna of Kulasinga village under Bantala police limits.

According to reports, the three and Pitambar’s wife Jambu were returning home in the three-wheeler after leaving his daughter at her in-laws’ place in Nuaraiguda.

The ill-fated vehicle and a truck collided head-on killing Pitambar and his relative on the spot.

Munna and Jambu sustained critical injuries in the road accident and were rushed to Bantala Hopital. Munna was later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital as his condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

The driver of the truck fled the spot with the vehicle after the incident. Police have recovered the bodies for post-mortem and initiated an investigation.
