Three women Maoists killed in encounter in Odisha’s Kalahandi

At least three Maoists have been killed in an exchange of fire between the rebels and the security personnel this evening at Ampani area in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

According to sources, the exchange of fire ensued between SOG jawans and the Reds this evening at around 6 pm at Ampani in Kalahandi district bordering Nabarangpur while the security personnel were doing combing operation in the area.

Three women Maoists have been killed in the encounter in the Sahaskhol forest. Three 303 rifle and a 9 mm pistol have been recovered, sources added.

“An exchange of fire took place between the SOG jawans and the Maoists at Ampani. According to preliminary reports, three Maoists have been killed. Three 303 rifles and IEDs have been recovered from the spot. Further details are awaited,” DIG (South Western Range) S Saini said.
