Thundersquall likely in some parts of Odisha

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Mar 11:

Some parts of Odisha are likely to experience thundersquall accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind today, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre predicted.

Latest doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thundersquall accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Puri, Khurda and Cuttack from 04.30 PM to 0830 PM today, a bulletin of the local meteorological centre said.

Notably, most parts of the state have been experiencing rainfall and showers for the last few days due to high pressure over Bay of Bengal and cyclonic circulation over north Odisha, Jharkhand and gangetic West Bengal.

The intensity of the rainfall is likely to decrease from March 13 onwards.
