Thunderstorm, hail warning issued for 20 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind is likely to occur in twenty districts of Odisha today between 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm today.

The districts likely to be affected are Puri, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Balangir, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khordha, Jharsuguda, Balasore, Boudh, Bargarh and Nuapada.

Denizens of the areas have been advised to stay indoors or take shelter at safe places during the period.

“Latest doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph likely to occur over the districts of Puri, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Balangir, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khordha, Jharsuguda, Balasore, Boudh, Bargarh and Nuapada between 3.15 pm and 7.15 pm,” a bulletin of the meteorological centre said.

It also informed that temperature across the state is likely to decrease till May 17 and increase thereafter. However, humidity will continue to prevail during the period, it predicted.
